Suspect In Stolen Vehicle Arrested in Moorhead
At approximately 1:40 p.m., Moorhead Police were advised that a witness was confronting a driver of a stolen vehicle from Fargo at 8 Street and Center Avenue. Moorhead Police conducted a felony traffic stop on the vehicle and lone occupant; however, the male suspect ran southbound from the scene. A Police Canine was deployed and was able to apprehend the suspect. The suspect continued to resist arrest with the officer who suffered an injury to his hand. A taser was also used to assist with taking the suspect into custody. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was cleared by medical staff at the scene. WAYNE PHILLIP LEBLANC (26 years old with no permanent address) is being held in the Clay County Jail on Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Gross Misdemeanor Obstructing Legal Process, and Fleeing From an Officer on Foot. Additional charges will be sought in Cass County relating to the initial vehicle theft.
