On Monday 5/29/17 at approximately 1:39 am, officers were dispatched to 1816 Belsly Blvd on a report of two people being assaulted, possibly with a shovel or a brick.  A vehicle was reported to leave the area at a high rate of speed.  One officer located a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on 20th Street South, near Romkey Park.  This vehicle was stopped and the persons inside admitted they had been at the location of the assault.

Officers at the scene of the assault came into contact with two male victims, with one being 18 years old and the other 16 years old.  One victim was rushed to a local hospital with significant facial injuries.  The other victim also had facial injuries, but he refused medical treatment.  Statements taken at the scene revealed Jerome Walker (43 years old from Moorhead) struck the two victims with a shovel and a brick.  A broken shovel and a brick were collected at the scene.

Walker was the driver of the vehicle which was stopped on 20th Street.  He was taken into custody and is being held at the Clay County Jail on two counts of felony 2nd Degree Assault.  The investigation is still ongoing.  This was not a random assault, as all persons involved were known to each other.
