Moorhead Police Announce New Program to Reach Youth

Post Date:01/25/2018 3:44 pm

The Moorhead Police Department is proud to announce they have formed a local chapter of the Police Athletics and Activities League. PAL, as it is know nationally, focuses on reducing juvenile crime by working with "Cops, Kids and the Community". This program was started thanks to a grant from Central Minnesota Credit Union and will be funded through future grants and donations. The goal is to promote positive interaction between law enforcement and youth through a variety of programs throughout the year.

The first PAL sponsored event will be the annual Cops and Kids hockey game. Going on its 12th year, this event was the inspiration behind starting a PAL chapter in Moorhead. This game has provided positive interaction between local law enforcement and almost 300 youth since it was started. The event will be Sunday, January 28, at 7pm at the Moorhead Sports Center. Moorhead Public Service is the primary sponsor for this event and provides a personalized jersey for each player. Admission is free and there will be a silent auction and "Chuck-a-spud" for prizes. This event is a long standing partnership between the Moorhead Police Department and Moorhead Youth Hockey. All money raised goes to our new PAL program and MYHA.

For more information on this event or the PAL program, please contact Sergeant Scott Kostohryz at 218.299.5283 or scott.kostohryz@moorheadpolice.com.
