Law Enforcement from the Moorhead Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the MN State Patrol worked a four hour block focusing on distracted driving today. Officers acted as spotters as they rode on a school bus provided by the Moorhead School District. Other officers stopped drivers who were radioed in by the spotters violating MN distracted driving laws. The goal was to increase driver’s awareness around school buses and to enforcement distracted driving laws which often leads to driver’s committing school bus stop arm violations.
Officers stopped seventy-five vehicles during this enforcement day. Twenty-seven citations were issued to drivers for distracted driving. Officers also issued twenty-five citations for no seatbelt use.
Busted on the Bus will be back again in the next few weeks.
Officers in Clay County will continue to focus on distracted driving violations through April 22.
