A Moorhead man is hospitalized with non life threatening injuries after being assaulted with a knife and a man is in custody for the assault. The incident happened just before 9pm at the apartment building Gateway Gardens at 1817 1st Avenue North, Apartment #408, in Moorhead. The resident of the apartment and male victim is identified as 45 year old Corey Schmidt and the suspect is identified as 25 year old Yaasiin Isxaaq. Both men were acquaintances and Isxaag had been a guest in the apartment with Schmidt. After the assault, Isxaaq fled the scene and was apprehended a short time later. approximately two blocks away, without incident. The motive for the assault has yet to be determined.
