Post Date:07/23/2018 2:10 pm

After an extensive recruitment and community input process, City Manager Christina Volkers has extended a conditional job offer to Moorhead's current Deputy Police Chief, Shannon Monroe. The offer of employment is conditioned on City Council consideration per City Charter, and will be discussed at tonight's regular City Council meeting.

Volkers notes, "It was an extensive process but worth the effort. We received a lot of great comments and feedback from the community, department heads, county leaders, school district leaders, MSUM leadership, other chiefs of police in both MN and ND, and police department staff." Volkers confirms the community input, "Deputy Chief Monroe has shown great leadership in his existing role, and will be a tremendous leader for our Police Department."

Monroe has 26 years' experience in law enforcement, and has been employed by the City of Moorhead Police Department since 1994. Current Chief David Ebinger retires July 27 after 12 years in Moorhead and a 40-year law enforcement career.
