Fire Damages Four Apartments

Post Date:12/07/2018 4:07 pm

At 5:00 am on December 7th, 2018, Moorhead firefighters were called to an apartment fire at 1211 34th Street Circle South in Moorhead.  Smoke detectors alerted the occupant and a neighboring resident who activated a manual fire alarm system in the building.  Crews arrived at 5:06 am to find a large amount of fire coming from the front window and door, extending up to the second floor of the building. Two crews worked to extinguished the fire and evacuate occupants of the building.  The fire was reported under control at 5:23 am.

One apartment was extensively damaged by the fire and three others were left uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage.  Five residents and at least two pets of the 20 unit apartment complex are being assisted by the Red Cross with temporary housing. No injuries were reported and no damage estimate is currently available. The building did not have a sprinkler system.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
