This morning at approximately 2:00 am, Moorhead officers were dispatched to the area of the 600 block of 41 Ave S. for a report of suspicious activity.  The reporting party stated he heard noises outside and when he looked out his window he noted fresh footprints around his home.  Upon arrival of officers, they noted the same footprints had approached several other homes and vehicles parked in the area.  Officers were able to follow the footprints left in the snow by the suspect. Officers were able to track the suspect to the 800 block of Belsly Boulevard.   The suspect male was wearing shoes that exactly matched the imprints left at the initial scene.

Moorhead Police Department staffing was planned to deal with the predicted snowstorm.  Instead of being a hindrance, the snowfall assisted in locating the suspect.

Anthony Alvarez, age 26, No Permanent Address, was arrested for the following:  Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, Trespassing, and Obstructing the Legal Process.
