Hwy 75/8 St between 24 Ave and 30 Ave in south Moorhead will close to traffic beginning Monday, June 6, for Stage 2 of the Interstate 94 interchange reconstruction project. The road is scheduled to re-open when both Stage 2 and Stage 3 are complete in late-August.
All through-traffic will detour to 20 St using 40 Ave S and 12 Ave S.
The Hwy 75/8 St interstate ramps to and from the east will also close for reconstruction June 6. Traffic will be directed to the 34 St interchange.
Interstate ramps to and from the west will remain open. However, traffic on southbound Hwy 75/8 St may only access westbound I-94, and traffic on eastbound I-94 may only access southbound Hwy 75/8 St.
As crews begin work on Stage 2, they will also complete work on the interstate portion of Stage 1. Concrete will be poured by mid-June for the new auxiliary lanes on both eastbound and westbound I-94. The auxiliary lanes will open as soon as possible.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation anticipates major congestion during the peak hours, particularly near the I-94/20 St interchange.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes, expect delays and adjust their commute start and end times, if possible.
Stage 2 is expected to run through early July.
