Committees, Boards & Commissions
The Moorhead City Council appoints a number of citizens each year to City
Committees, Boards, and Commissions. Moorhead Residents are encouraged to
apply.

Airport Committee
A seven member board to oversee the operation, marketing & promotion
of the Moorhead Airport. (M)
Board of Appeals
& Equalization
The Mayor appoints five members to review real estate assessments and taxes
to ensure all properties are being assessed and taxed equally within the City.

Charter Commission
Thirteen members are selected by the Council for approval by the District Judge.
Their function is to establish and maintain a Home Rule Charter according to City
Ordinances and Minnesota Laws. (AN)
Economic Development Authority Board
Eleven commissioners provide for industrial, economic development
& redevelopment within the City, and to institute and carry
on any and all economic development activities as allowed. (M)
Human Rights Commission
Eleven members are appointed by a nominating committee to promote
general awareness and understanding of human rights issues and laws in
the community and secure for all persons, whether residents or visitors,
equal opportunity in education, employment, housing, public accommodations,
and public services, and full participation for all its citizens in the
affairs of this community. (M)
Moorhead Library Board
The nine members direct the operations of the Moorhead Library.
Five of these members serve on the Lake Agassiz Regional Library
Board (LARL) where policy and budget decisions for the LARL system are
made. (M)
Park Advisory Board
This Board advises the Council on policies affecting the use of
the City's parks and the operation of the recreation programs. The five
members also prepare long-range plans for new park facilities and programs. (M)
Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment
Seven members oversee the implementation of an adopted comprehensive
plan for the physical development of Moorhead. Recommendations are
made to the Council regarding zoning changes, conditional use permits,
annexations, vacations, variances, subdivisions and tax increment financing
plans. (M)
Public Housing Agency Board
Five commissioners carry out the City's plan for public housing
in accordance with the Minnesota Housing and Redevelopment Act. This
is accomplished by providing and managing public housing and services
for low and moderate income levels. (M)
Public Service Commission
This five member Commission is responsible for overseeing
the management and operation of the electric and water utilities.(M)
