Recyclable materials are collected from residential homes at the curb, every other week, on the scheduled garbage collection day.
The following materials are collected for recycling:
#1 and #2 plastic bottles and jugs only (no wide mouth containers)
Clear and colored glass bottles and jars
Steel, tin and aluminum cans
Newspaper
Corrugated cardboard
Residents are required to use a designated recycling container to help crews identify recyclable materials. The containers cost $5 each and may be purchased at the Public Works Facility, 700 15th Ave North or 3rd floor of City Hall, 500 Center Ave.
Magazines
Magazines can be recycled at the public drop-off sites at 1900 Main Ave, Kmart, CVS Pharmacy (8th St & 30 Ave S).
Newspapers
Newspapers can also be recycled at the public drop-off sites. Yellow dumpsters for magazines are located at 1900 Main Ave, Kmart, CVS Pharmacy (8th St & 30 Ave S).
Cardboard
In an effort to divert commercial cardboard from the landfill, the City of Moorhead
has established a cardboard recycling program for commercial customers. The
City of Moorhead furnishes and maintains the containers, while a private recycling
hauler collects, processes and markets the cardboard.
Call the Moorhead Operations Department at (218) 299-5347 for more information about recycling.
