Stormwater management is essential in keeping our homes
from flooding during storm events and to protect the environment
in which we live.
We all live within a watershed, which means the stormwater
from our property eventually drains into the Red River. If
the stormwater runoff from our streets and property contains
pollutants, then those pollutants also are carried to the
river. Those pollutants can be detrimental to use of the
river for recreation, aquatic life and our use of the water
for drinking.
If stormwater is not anticipated and managed, we are at risk
of flooded streets and basements during heavy rainfalls.
The purpose of this page (and the links to other sites) is
to provide an educational opportunity for our citizens to
be good stewards of our water resources. It highlights
efforts by your city government in stormwater management
and provides a resource for compliance with Federal and State laws.
