Historic Log Cabin |
top |
315 4th St. South
The log cabin was built in 1859 along the Red River and served as a stagecoach
stop on the Minnesota Stage Company's route. In 1878 Charles Whitcomb
bought the cabin and moved it to 10th Street North in Moorhead. In 1933
former Parks Director Adolph Bowman and the Moorhead Garden Club moved
the cabin to its current location. In 1999, local artists, Gloria Weisgram,
Gary Paulsen and the City of Moorhead began to use it as a folk art center. Use of the log cabin was stopped in 2007 due to problems with the structural integrity of the structure. Plans are currently being developed to repair the structure.
