On Monday, April 4, 2022, at approximately 6:15 pm, officers responded to the area of 34 Street South and Interstate 94 for a report of an injury accident. A single vehicle had left the roadway, rolled over and came to a rest on its roof in standing water. The lone occupant was removed by witnesses on scene.
Steven Wear, age 72, from Fargo, ND, was pulled from the vehicle by a witness. Wear was transported by ambulance to Sanford Health. The Moorhead Police was later notified that Wear died. His body has been transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner office for an autopsy. The crash is still under investigation.
The Moorhead Police Department was assisted by the Moorhead Fire Department, Sanford Ambulance, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
