Moorhead Robbery

On June 9, 2022, at 5:30 PM, the Moorhead Police Department responded to the area of Horizon Middle School for a disturbance. Officers later located the caller at a nearby residence. The victim indicated they met with a known associate. During this interaction, the victim had money taken from them. A firearm was implied, and the suspect made a verbal threat they would shoot the victim. The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle. There were no reported injuries from this incident.

Officers later located the suspect at the 34 Street and 12 Avenue South intersection. The suspect fled on foot and was taken into custody after a prolonged foot chase. No firearms were recovered at the point of arrest or along the path of the foot chase. We do not believe there is any weapon uncounted for at this time.

The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Ahmed Abdi Hassan JR of Fargo. He is being held at the Clay County Correctional Center pending formal charges from the Clay County Attorney's Office for the following charges:

Simple Robbery – Felony

Fleeing a Peace Officer on Foot – Misdemeanor

The Moorhead Police Department was assisted by the Clay County Sheriffs Office. There is no additional information to release at this time.
