Police Pursuit Ends in Standoff
Suspect Surrenders without Injuries
On September 30, 2022, at approximately 1047 hours, officers were sent to a disturbance near the intersection of 15 Avenue North and 11 Street North. As they arrived in the area, the suspect took off in a silver passenger car. They tried to stop him and he refused to pull over. The Clay County Sheriff’s Department had a deputy in the area who was able to successfully deploy stop sticks several blocks later on 15 Avenue North. The vehicle turned to go north on Highway 75 and eventually came to a stop in the 5000 block of Highway 75 North.
The suspect refused to comply with instructions and short standoff ensued. Officers were patient and eventually the suspect surrendered and taken into custody without any injuries. The suspect has been identified as Tad Isaac Butcher (38) from Moose Lake, MN. He is facing a variety of criminal charges and is being held at the Clay County Correctional Facility. Moorhead Officers were assisted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and Minnesota State Patrol.
