Lunch Bunch - Sonja Serving

Monday-Friday   |   11:45 am   |   Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance by calling the Food Site Manager at 218.299.5519 between the hours of 10 am-12:30 pm.  

Enjoy a hot, nutritious, congregate meal! A suggested donation of $4 is kindly requested if you are age 60 and older. Persons under the age of 60 are required to pay $8.

NSI provides this service in part, under the Federal Older Americans Act through a contract with the NWRDC under an area plan approved by the Minnesota Board on Aging. 

CALL TO ACTION: Meals for older adults are seriously underfunded in Minnesota and, as a result, the health of older Minnesotans is at risk. We need your help to add $10 million to the Senior Nutrition Program under Minnesota Statutes, section 256.9752. Click here to learn more.

Memory Cafe is a free social gathering where people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss, and their care partners, come together in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. At Memory Cafe we are committed to reminding our participants they are valued, significant members of our local community by changing the way we think about memory loss.

Tax Time

AARP - Free Income Tax Assistance

Thursdays, February 2 - April 13   |   9 am-3 pm   |   By appointment only, call 701.850.0748. Will start taking appointments Jan 17, 2023.

AARP and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) are once again sponsoring free income tax services to the elderly, low and moderate income taxpayers of all ages with special attention to those 60 and older. 

IRS certified volunteers have been trained to prepare and electronically file your income tax returns. Every taxpayer's return is quality reviewed and all information is kept confidential. 

  • Bring all tax documents on paper to your appointment. Plan to spend 1.5 to 2.0 hours. 
  • Bring all documents needed to file before coming to the tax sites.
  • Bring Social Security cards, photo IDs and a copy of last year's tax returns. 

Other locations: Moorhead Public Library, Monday-Wednesday, 9 am-3 pm

Volunteer tax preparers will not take phone calls. Rent Rebates will be done up until April 13. 

Please do not call the Hjemkomst Center with specific tax inquiries. They are only a host site and cannot answer questions. 


The Remember Project: In The Garden

Join our effort to raise awareness and fight the stigma of memory loss. Small group discussions to follow the theatrical video. Watch the short play "In the Garden," participate in the Dementia-Friendly Communities movement, learn about resources throughout the Greater Clay County region, and meet with others who are interested in learning more while supporting those who live with dementia and their care partners.

Care for your feet can add years to your life, and certainly improve your quality of life! Foot care clinics are led by Bev Gravdahl, a Registered Faith Community Nurse with a passion for foot care and serving older adults. The cost of a treatment is $40 and includes: foot/lower leg health assessment, Epsom salt foot soak, debridement, nail trim and file, softening of corns/callouses, exfoliation, and lower leg/foot massage.

The rules are simple and easy for beginners to learn. Visit for more information and rules of game play. Instructors are not at the location, and those attending will rotate play. Paddles are available upon request and space is limited. No registration required.

Walk for the health of it! No cost and all abilities welcome! Weather and temperature permitting. Dress for success! Items to consider are good walking shoes, temperature-appropriate clothing or layers, and sunscreen.

 This class focuses on basic classical yoga postures, alignment principles and   breathing techniques. Whether you are brand new to yoga or well on your   journey, we will meet you where you are and leave you feeling rejuvenated, elongated and most definitely centered. Yoga mat required.

 Join our certified aquatics exercise instructor in this class that will leave you   feeling refreshed and energized! These classes will use a mix of cardio and   strength exercises to increase your flexibility, range of motion and tone your   body, while maintaining low-impact on your joints. We will incorporate a   variety of movements, equipment, and up-beat music to enhance your workout. All ability levels are welcome!

Valley Triad is seniors, service agencies and law enforcement working together. Valley Triad meets monthly to develop projects and educational programs for Cass-Clay county seniors. Guests are welcome to attend meetings and bring law enforcement concerns to the group for discussion.
