The first of three planned "Safe City Nights" events takes place this Wednesday, June 26th, from 5:30 to 7:30pm. This event is a partnership between the Moorhead Police Department, Moorhead Police Athletics and Activities League and other city departments and Moorhead businesses. All attendees will get free pizza, drink and ice cream thanks to our partners at Gate City Bank, Downtown Moorhead Dairy Queen and Brett Oertlie State Farm Insurance.
There will be a bike rodeo, ID bracelets for kids, a bounce house from Games To Go and displays of numerous public safety vehicles, including a landing and showing of Sanford Health's AirMed helicopter. This event started as "Police in the Parks" in 2022 and has grown to showcase the many city services Moorhead provides and help connect neighborhoods with the city and its employees.
Through the generosity of the Boys and Girls Club of Fargo-Moorhead and Moorhead Scheels, there will be door prizes for all kids in attendance, including a brand-new bike given away at each event. There will be a coloring contest and a bike repair station to make minor adjustments to kids bikes and make sure they are safe for use.
Remaining events this summer are July 17th at Ellen Hopkins Elementary and July 31st at Queens Park. For additional information or inquiries, please contact Sergeant Scott Kostohryz at 218.299.5283.
