Shortly after Midnight on August 4, 2024, officers responded to a report that a male had been stabbed in the chest. Upon arriving in the 1000 block of Third Avenue North, a single male victim was located with what appeared to be a wound from a sharp instrument. He was transported to Sanford Hospital where he later was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld until family can be notified. A person of interest was located and is currently detained. There is no threat to the public as the victim and suspect knew each other.
The Minnesota State Patrol and Clay County Sheriff's Office assisted with the initial response and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
