On Wednesday, August 7, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers learned two parties had exchanged gunfire. Through the investigation, it is believed that two parties known to each other had a property dispute at a residence in the 1000 block of 14 Street South that evolved into a physical altercation. One of the parties involved began to leave in a vehicle, and an exchange of gunfire took place between an individual in the vehicle and an individual at the residence.

Those who left the scene in the vehicle called 911 to report the shooting. The vehicle was located in the 3000 block of 20 Street South, where officers detained two adult males. Officers at the scene at the residence detained one adult male. Moorhead Police are currently interviewing all three.

There were no reports of any injuries from the gunfire; however, some property damage occurred in the area from stray bullets. It is believed all firearms used in the shooting have been recovered.

The investigation is still very active. The Clay County Sheriff's Office and the MN State Patrol assisted the Moorhead Police Department.
