On May 15, 2025, at 11:23 PM, the Moorhead Police Department was contacted by the Cass County North Dakota Coroner’s Office about a suspicious death. A 20-month-old was brought unresponsive by family to Sanford Medical Center from Moorhead. Life saving measures were unsuccessful and the child was declared deceased.
The Moorhead Police Department responded to the medical facility to initiate an investigation. It was learned the victim lived with family in the 1100 block of 18 ½ Street South. Officers secured that residence as part of the ongoing investigation. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was requested to assist with the investigation. The BCA Crime Scene Unit is currently processing the scene. The child was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. Currently no one is in custody and there is no additional information to release.
