The City of Moorhead invites the public to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the new Matson Field on Monday, June 30 during the Moorhead Golds' final home doubleheader of the season. The ceremony will take place between games at approximately 6:30 pm, and admission is free.
This special event marks the beginning of a new chapter for Matson Field, a beloved Moorhead ballpark with a proud history of hosting generations of local athletes and fans. The new field will offer updated amenities and improved features to support Moorhead’s growing baseball community for years to come.
“Matson Field will provide Moorhead baseball players and fans the quintessential baseball experience,” said Mayor Shelly Carlson. “This project reflects the strength of our community and the generosity of those who have already invested in making this dream a reality. We look forward to seeing this space continue to inspire athletes and fans for generations.”
The City thanks the many donors who have already contributed to the project. There are still opportunities for individuals and businesses to get involved and make a lasting impact through sponsorships or donations.
Come enjoy a night of community pride, baseball, and celebration as we cheer on the Moorhead Golds and officially break ground on this exciting project.
