Five Officers Receive LIfesaving Medals

Post Date:04/16/2020 12:22 pm

The Moorhead Police Department recognizes five officers for their efforts to provide life-saving measures that have significantly made a positive difference to several members of our community. Chief Shannon Monroe states, “This is extraordinary to have had this many incidents in such a short period of time. I am extremely proud of our officers in the performance of their duties during this unprecedented time. Today, we are celebrating their good work they have done in our community by recognizing them with lifesaving awards. As our policy states, 'The Lifesaving Medal is awarded to officers who take action to save the life of another which would otherwise have expired without the direct action by the rescuer.' We also thank the efforts of our partners at the Red River Regional Dispatch Center, Moorhead Fire Department, and FM Ambulance as we are one team when it comes to emergency response.”  Due to the current situation, and by adhering to social distancing, an official ceremony recognizing their efforts will be held at a later time.

Attached is a brief description of each situation.
