Streets
The Streets division is responsible for street and alley maintenance, street sweeping, snow removal, and sign maintenance.
Storm Drain Maintenance
Crews routinely clean catch basins to ensure proper draining of water from streets. Leaves and grass clippings are often the cause of improper drainage. To help prevent this, please do not discharge leaves and grass clippings into the street.
If you see a storm sewer drain or catch basin that is broken or not working properly, please email Streets or call 218.299.5422 to report it. If it is an emergency after normal operating hours (7 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday), call Red River Dispatch at 701.451.7660 and they will contact Public Works on-call employee to respond.
Street Lights
Street lights are maintained by Moorhead Public Service (MPS). To report a broken or damaged street light call MPS at 218.477.8000 (Option 4)
Potholes
Streets staff fill potholes and cracks, apply seal coatings, and perform minor overlay work. If you see a pothole that needs repairs, email Streets or call 218.299.5422 to report it.
Parking Restrictions
Parking restrictions are in effect all year long and necessary for street maintenance. These restrictions are designated by and posted on streets signs. For specific questions, email Streets or call 218.299.5422

Load Restrictions
Clay County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation place restrictions on roadways that are under their jurisdiction within the City of Moorhead.
The City requires a MnDOT or Clay County permit be faxed to 218.299.5399 for evaluation of the proposed route to the construction destination. The permit will be signed by the City and faxed to the applicant with approval or a revised route if needed.
