On October 7, 2023, at approximately 5:20PM, City of Moorhead Police Department responded to Eight Street and Center Avenue on a report of an accident involving a motor vehicle and a train.
The investigation indicated a 2018 red Ford passenger car, driven by 32-year-old Fargo resident, had been traveling southbound on Eight Street. Witness statements indicated the driver stopped his vehicle underneath the railroad crossing arms and was struck by a westbound train. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threating injuries.
The City of Moorhead Police Département was assisted by the Clay County Sherriff's Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. This is an on-going investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
