Spooky & Scary Movies in the Garden

Enjoy a spooky and scary DOUBLE FEATURE with us at the Heritage Garden & Amphitheater, located adjacent to Woodlawn Park.

The community voted for their favorite titles on the Plains Art Museum Facebook page, and these were our winners!
Spooky film (8pm): "The Addams Family" (1991)
Scary film (10pm): "Little Shop of Horrors" (1986)

Art activities will kick off the evening with first movie beginning at sundown. Popcorn, drinks, hand sanitizer and bug spray will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own snacks, blankets/chairs and fuzzy friends as well!
Costumes strongly encouraged!

In the case of poor weather, the event will move to the Plains Art Museum.


Pumpkin Party Pickup event
Pumpkin Party Pick-Up
Tuesday, October 17 - 3:30-5:30 pm

250 pumpkin gourds and even more goodie bags were given away in just a little more than an hour at Memorial Park in 2022!

  1. With a parent or guardian, kids ages 12 and under can pick up a pumpkin gourd and paint kit at Memorial Park between 3:30 and 5:30 pm on Tuesday, October 17.
  2. Take the pumpkin home and paint your creation!
  3. Take a photo of you in your costume with your masterpiece. 
  4. Send your photo and a completed submission form to parkandrec@moorheadmn.gov for a chance to win a prize! (YOU CAN STILL DO THIS, EVEN IF YOU MISS OUT ON PICKING UP A PUMPKIN AT THE PARK!) Winners will be announced on Halloween. 

Monster Mash Trunk or Treat event

Monster Mash Trunk or Treat
Tuesday, October 31 - 5-7 pm

Enjoy an evening of trick-or-treating through the Moorhead Center Mall Parking lot. All ghouls, witches and zombies are welcome! Additional activities and a photo station will be available. 1,000 kids and nearly 2,500 attendees total enjoy this event every year.

Interested in volunteering for this event? We are seeking businesses, groups and individuals to decorate and host vehicles.
